Non-Compliance In Diabetes

This article challenges the label of “non-compliance” in diabetes care, emphasizing that living with diabetes is complex, burdensome, and emotionally demanding, not a simple matter of motivation or effort. It urges health care professionals to shift from judging or “wrestling” with patients toward “dancing” with them—partnering in empathy, shared decision-making, and patient-defined goals to provide meaningful support rather than pressure or blame.
